Some Consumers to Receive Restitution for Alleged Foreclosure Scam

In Ft. Lauderdale Florida, the state has collected $59,000 to distribute to 430 victims of an alleged loan scam involving three Delray Beach Companies. This settlement resolves the accusation that Home Owner Protection Economics Inc., DC Financial Group, Deleverage America Inc., and their owners Dennis Fischer and Christopher S. Godfrey charged up-front fees for mortgage rescue services, but failed to perform the actions that they were paid for.

The owners allegedly charged struggling homeowners up to $2,000. Fisher, Godfrey and their companies are permanently prohibited from engaging in any loan modification or mortgage associated rescue services from this point forward.

Victims have until March 12 to return a claim form to the Attorney General’s Office with proof of payment to one of the companies named in this article.
